Economic Activity and GDP at Risk due to Climate Hazards
Natural hazards such as storms and floods will increase in frequency and intensity due to climate change.
To characterize the economy and household earnings exposed to such shocks we have developed a point-level model of GDP creation in Norway, with NACE level 5 sectoral resolution (approx. 800 sectors).
This map of production and value creation in the Norwegian economy is overlaid with flood risk hazard maps from kartverket and NVE to characterize the vulnerable areas of the economy, sectors affected, and the regions involved.
In the interactive map below you can explore the map of where GDP is created, look at the regions which are important economically as well as where activities are exposed to climate hazards. This work has been funded via the RISKRES (NFR project nr 342609.) and ActMap projects.
